Tonya R. Yarbrough, RN, is an Associate Director in the Vanderbilt Institute for Clinical and Translational Research (VICTR). She began her nursing career as a critical care nurse in the Vanderbilt Medical Step-Down Unit continuing her career at Vanderbilt for the past 33 years. She served as a research nurse for the Cardiology and Pulmonary departments and as a consultant for a local pharmaceutical company for more than 15 years and established and led a team of clinical research monitors who traveled broadly providing services to Vanderbilt and industry for Vanderbilt collaborative projects. She contributed to restructuring and organizing the Vanderbilt IRB and other research related departments and processes, including the development and implementation of Research Support Services and informatics tools now available through VICTR and the Vanderbilt Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA). She currently applies her expertise in clinical trial billing compliance in directing a team who provide support and education to investigators developing clinical trial budgets and billing plans. Tonya collaborates with Drs. Bernard and Harris and Bree Burks, providing strategy and vision for the Vanderbilt Coordinating Center.
